Every year we take on a few charity construction projects that directly give back to the community in meaningful ways and inspire our staff, customers, and suppliers. See below for a few of our success stories

LUSH Valley

Comox Valley,BC 2022

This year Osprey was able to extend its services to help with the LUSH Valley community initiative. This is a non-profit organization in the Comox Valley. Their focuse is on food security and their projects are to support, educate and empower people to learn how to grow, harvest and reduce waste. The teach people how to cook healthy local food and provide hot meals and healthy food boxes to members of the community experience food insecurity. Osprey jumped on the idea of helping this organization when an upgrade was needed for their new building. Our staff volunteered their time, and we donated the supplies to do a 400V service upgrade to their new space in Tintown. Great job from Osprey and the people at LUSH Valley.

Community Hospice Dream Home

Nanaimo,BC 2021-2022

Nanaimo Community Hospice is a community organization that provides compassionate support, education and advocacy for those living with advanced illness, dying and bereavement. We had the privilege to partake in last years Dream Home Lottery. We completed a full design and wiring of a luxury home from start to finish. This included a dunk swimming pool with extremely efficient Heating System. We had multiple weekends of 10-20 employees showing up and donating all of their time to help complete this project for the Nanaimo Haven Society.

Island Crisis Care Society- Bakery Project

Nanaimo, BC 2022

ICCS is an organization that address the needs of the community and provides a safe place to live for many battling with addictions or in need of consoling. In this project Osprey worked in support of the Island Crisis Care Society to renovate an age old bakery in Nanaimo into a new, modern feel bakery with a new café, lighting, and sitting areas. The revenue generated from this bakery will directly go back into supporting the many programs of ICCS

ESPERANZA
Tahais, BC May 2014

Our staff brought forward a charity located 40 minutes south of Tahsis that was in dire need of some serious electrical upgrades. This location was actually the first hospital on the west coast and has helped hundreds of people located in these remote communities. Current day, it is a retreat center and also a kids camp focused on serving the communities in the Remote North Island area. Their distribution was wired overhead and was a patchwork of additions done by volunteers dating back to the early 1900's. Osprey was able to take on this project and for 5 days we did a complete upgrade and overhaul of their overhead wiring, underground distribution, minor repairs, update to generators, electrical panels and more. Thanks to the combine efforts of Osprey staff and Experanza community we installed over $45,000 of materials which helped in the future preservation of this historic community.

FOODSHARE SOLAR PROJECT
Nanaimo, BC, Jan 2016

When the Foodshare Centre Nanaimo approached Osprey for a Solar Proposal, our staff immediately saw this as an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way. What's so beautiful about this project is that it was 100% spearheaded and completed by staff and not senior management. Osprey supported our staff logistically, but in the end the install and labor was 100% donated on the weekend to ensure Foodshare maximized their budget for solar production.

Paul Manly produced a video for FoodShare briefly outlining this project.

LOAVES AND FISHES: FOOD BANK PROJECT

Nanaimo, BC,February 2014

Loaves and Fishes Food Bank was the very first non-profit project Osprey had the privilege to be part. When we were approached to quote on their proposed purchase and renovation of this very old "heritage?" warehouse, we thought this would be a great way we could give back to the community. This upgrade included a complete demo and re-wire of most of the warehouse, LED lighting upgrade, service upgrade, addition of offices, new security lighting and more.

In the end, 100% of electrical labor was donated and thanks to our suppliers at Wesco Nanaimo, EB Horseman, and Torbram Nanaimo, 90% of all materials were supplied for free. Our staff at Osprey blew us away with their commitment and follow through to make sure this food bank put its resources into feeding people and not "wiring".
